To make East African coffee the most valuable coffee on earth.
That is the whole mission. TONA is the system being built for it.
We are product people. We spent our careers building systems that work — and we come from the land of the best coffee on earth. TONA is what happens when those two facts meet: professional discipline, applied to the coffee we are proudest of.
We believe everyone on earth deserves to taste East African coffee. What stands in the way is not the coffee — it is the trade: a market with no system, where traceability is a rumor, accountability is optional, and reliability depends on who picks up the phone.
So we are fixing it the way product people fix anything: one piece at a time. A published protocol. A kept reference sample. A written quote. A delivery you can plan around. Piece by piece, until the mission at the top of this page stops sounding ambitious and starts sounding obvious.
And there are things we refuse to do. We do not sell coffee we have not cupped. We do not quote scores we cannot defend. We do not call a commercial coffee specialty because the buyer might not check.
Order, on purpose
East African coffee is extraordinary. The market that moves it often is not — verbal promises, drifting samples, scores that appear from nowhere and vanish under scrutiny. We think the finest coffees on earth deserve trade of the same standard as their farming: written contracts, published protocols, kept references, dated paperwork.
The gap between how good this coffee is and how well it is traded — that gap is our entire business.
What we hold to
Traceability
Every lot carries its region, altitude, and cupping date — published so you can see how fresh the information is. And every origin on our list carries a study of its own. When we say Guji, the word is a door.
Consistency
Every delivery is checked against a kept reference sample. When a coffee drifts, we say so before you taste it.
Long-term partnership
We hold stock for buyers who plan with us. Planning together costs less than buying one shipment at a time.
The craft
We are in this because coffee rewards obsession. A washed Guji can taste of bergamot and apricot only because someone picked at the right ripeness, fermented for the right hours, turned the beds at the right moment — hundreds of decisions, every one invisible until the cup. We consider it our job to carry those decisions across five thousand kilometers without losing a single one.
So we treat coffee the way an archive treats a manuscript. Every lot is cupped, logged, and kept as a reference sample. Every roast is developed deliberately and written down. Nothing about how we handle coffee is casual, because nothing about how it was grown was casual either.
